  THE CYPRUS INSTITUTE SOLAR CAR CHALLENGE RULES   1.      INTRODUCTION The solar car challenge is organized by the Cyprus Institute and its main objective is to promote the use of renewable energy and hence to raise public awareness on its uses and to stimulate interest and enthusiasm of the participants in physics, engineering as well as design and technology. Workshop: CyI presented its research on Solar Systems and collaboration opportunities with local manufacturers.

The Cyprus Institute (CyI) and the Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEB), within the framework of their cooperation, co-organized a workshop to present CyI’s research on Solar Thermal Systems, for companies operating in the fields of metallurgical engineering, utilization of solar energy, mechanical and electrical consultancy services and other related fields. During the workshop collaboration opportunities were presented between local manufacturers, CyI and other European Institutions for the design and construction of various custom systems needed for the research programs carried out. UNESCO features The Cyprus Institute

The Cyprus Institute is featured in UNESCO’s recent announcement for the completion of the Management Plan for the archaeological site of Choirokoitia. The project is led by the Department of Antiquities, with the collaboration of CyI and the French Archaeological mission excavating at the site. The Plan’s preparation, funded by UNESCO’s Participation Programme (2010-2011), will be presented on the 18th of April during the celebrations marking the 40th Anniversary of the signing of the Convention for the Protection of World Cultural and Natural Heritage. A delegation from the Cyprus European Party, led by the party’s President Mr. Demetris Syllouris visited The Cyprus Institute on the 26th of March.
